Toolkit for Research Impact

The societal impacts of research are the ways research, or the process of conducting research, influences the world beyond academia. In other words, when we plan for and assess societal impacts, we are looking beyond scientific advancement to ask how our work can be more immediately or directly beneficial to our communities, our region, and society as a whole.

The Toolkit for Research Impact (TRI), created by the University of Arizona's Office of Societal Impact provides resources and tools for a self-guided introduction to incorporating societal impacts into research and assessment activities for individual researchers or project leaders; research directors and organizational leaders; and societal impacts professionals such as evaluators, engagement specialists, and boundary spanners.

Each pathway in the TRI walks through the key steps in planning for and assessing impact from the point of view of these three distinct, but mutually supportive groups. Click on the card to select your pathway.
